A week of fixing what was wrong

This was a week of corrections more than a week of new pages.

The first book went out to readers

Early copies of What’s Allowed Through are with a small group of readers. Two have finished, and their notes are already in the manuscript, mostly small continuity fixes: the kind of error a long book hides from its own author. I also set a rule before more feedback arrives. Every comment gets read, but only a serious problem reopens the manuscript. Everything else goes on a list for later.

I also opened an anonymous feedback form for anyone reading an early copy. It asks where you stopped, what confused you and what stayed with you. A first name is optional. Share your feedback.

The cover is being rebuilt to print size

The front art has to be sharper than it is, and the wrap has to match the exact trim and spine. It is slow, technical work and there is nothing to show yet. The reveal waits for launch.

The website had a lot of cleaning up

The home page has a new set of images. The books page is now a plain table of every title and where it stands. The Universe page has a new backdrop, an old oak I wanted behind the whole project. The About page now starts with how this began, in my own words, and The Method page starts from the same place: what the texts say, and what I had been told. I took the audio page offline until I can rebuild it properly, and the Circle page now says it is opening soon.

I fact-checked one of my own pages and found two errors

The first profile in the Glossary of Time is the Lakota. Checking it against sources, I found two statements I had written wrong. One misstated a tribal government’s position, and one gave a date for horses that no source supports. Both are fixed, and several other lines were reworded because the sources were thinner than the text suggested. I am telling you because it is the whole point of this project. A claim I cannot source does not stay on the page.

Next week

Another round on the reference profiles, and more reader notes.
